CAB Report February 2, 2022

Our last meeting was held on air in November (11.29.21).

CAB members Raymond Catania called in and Keahi Kuroiwa and Shelby Wilson juggled childcare duties to help host along with GM Laura Christine. LC provided an update on her recovery from CV 19 and another successful fund drive. She also updated listeners on the status of the west side signal condition and anticipates full power in the New Year. Her report concluded with updates on the changes to the scheduled line up with shifting time slots, new shows and volunteers
Due to the pandemic our conversation was shaped and influenced by the current state of affairs relating to CV 19 and it's impact on society.

Listener suggestions included:
* Increased traffic reporting (road closures, traffic jams and road projects)
* Resolving the transmission/signal/power for island wide broadcasting (west side still down)

The CAB hosted it's first show of the year on 1.31.22. Dr Hari Khalsa along w GM Laura Christine participated in the discussion with requests for suggestions and feed back from our listeners were encouraged. LC shared the bad news that the west side signal is still down and may not get resolved as soon as desired. Hari shared updates on the strategic planning process and other KF board activities. Listener suggestions included topic/theme for a new show focused on trade/barter/sales of items (like Trade Radio on KQNG) as well as developing an app to better reach new listeners or enhance the listening opportunities for our members. The app could improve communications and satisfy listener's desire for a specific genre of music like jazz, bluegrass or Hawaiian. This could stream 24 /7 and bring in revenue for the station.

Our next CAB show (and first meeting of the year) is scheduled for Monday, May 30, 2022
No official recommendations were advanced during the previous meeting but the programming suggestions for traffic reporting, along with online classifieds and the aforementioned hi tech approach to broaden our listenership have been noted by station management.
